Orchid Care
Practical care guidance for helping a live Phalaenopsis orchid settle into its new space.
After delivery
Unpack the arrangement gently and allow it to settle. After 24 hours, check the growing medium and water only if it feels dry.
When to water
Press a finger into the orchid bark. Water when the medium is approaching dry, then allow excess water to drain completely. Never leave the planter standing in water.
Light
Choose bright, indirect light. Harsh direct afternoon sun can scorch leaves, while very low light may reduce the likelihood of future blooms.
Temperature and humidity
Keep the orchid away from heating vents, cold drafts, and abrupt temperature changes. Normal comfortable indoor conditions are generally appropriate.
Blooms and reblooming
Bloom life varies naturally. Reblooming depends on plant health, light, temperature, and continued care and cannot be guaranteed.
Leaves and roots
One older yellowing leaf can be part of normal growth. Healthy roots may appear green after watering and silvery as they dry.
Shipping adjustment
Minor bloom or leaf changes can occur as a live plant adjusts after transit. Photograph significant arrival damage before altering the arrangement.
When to contact support
For an arrival concern, keep the orchid, packaging, and shipping label. Take clear photographs and contact info@theroomcollective.shop so the order can be reviewed.
